- SynopsisIn Communist Czechoslovakia, an established cello player finds his career destroyed by a vindictive Party functionary. Reduced to playing at funerals to make ends meet, he is persuaded, for money, to marry a young Russian who wants Czech citizenship. Through a series of accidents, he finds himself looking after her five year-old son, Kolja, while she is Germany with her lover. Then the 'Velvet Revolution' comes; the boy is reclaimed by his mother and the musician returns to his orchestra. (Synopsis)
